Arizona Diamondbacks 6, Seattle Mariners 0,
Safeco Field - Seattle, Washington

The return of the Big Unit! Randy Johnson anchored the Mariners pitching staff for almost a decade before being traded to the Astros last year and then signing with the Diamondbacks in the offseason. Through the luck of the pitching rotation, we got to see Randy face Junior, A-Rod and the rest of his former teammates for the first time ever. He didn't disappoint. For 5 innings, Seattle starter Frank Rodriguez (subbing for an injured Jamie Moyer) matched Johnson by shutting out Arizona. But manager Lou Pinella lifted him and, as usual, the Seattle bullpen blew up. Johnson was his usual dominant self, striking out 10 and making the powerful Mariners' lineup look ordinary. The last of several standing ovations followed the last out of an impressive 6-0 shutout.
